Fathers Day 2019

Fathers Day 2019

On the 15th June 2019, some of the members of the Seva Bhakti Foundation visited the grandpas at Eagle Wings Old Age Home for the Frail. The elderly at this facility are all diagnosed with either Dementia or Alzheimer’s.

SBF members were once again left emotional, due to seeing and spending time with these grandpas’s. We tried our best to bring some fun and joy to them, by treating them to some comedy and dance. Maeshni Naicker enjoyed entertaining them with her comedy and Keshini Govender entertained them with two dances while the grandpas clapped to the beat. Maeshni even got 2 of the grandpas to dance with her. A lovely poem written by Kritika was recited to them as well.

Thereafter meals, juice and deserts was served and cake was left over for them for tea time snacks. Before we left, we gifted each grandpa with gifts for winter.

SBF members once again would like to thank their sponsors and volunteers. If it was not for you precious souls, our work would be made more difficult. It is thanks to you, we were able to bring some laughter, joy and happiness to each of these grandpas.

Our appeal to the public again, please adopt a grandparent, be it at the homes, or in our neighbourhood, take a moment to spend a little time with them, just to sit and listen to their stories, have a cup of tea or simply just read to them. This small act of kindness will make a huge difference to the lives of these elderly persons. They will feel loved once again. Let’s share the love, because we will also be old one day.
